Just Cause 2 to kolejna odsłona serii gier akcji, która zadebiutowała na rynku elektronicznej rozrywki w drugiej połowie 2006 roku. Podobnie jak to miało miejsce w przypadku pierwowzoru, program został opracowany przez szwedzką firmę Avalanche Studios.

Głównym bohaterem gry Just Cause 2 jest Rico Rodriquez – pracownik Centralnej Agencji Wywiadowczej, który w pierwszej odsłonie cyklu próbował obalić samozwańczy rząd w Ameryce Południowej. Tym razem nasz śmiałek wyrusza do Azji Południowo-Wschodniej, gdzie na wyspie Panau czeka na niego kolejna, bardzo niebezpieczna misja.

Główną zaletą gry Just Cause 2 jest możliwość swobodnej eksploracji ogromnej wyspy o powierzchni tysiąca kilometrów kwadratowych, która obfituje w zróżnicowane pod względem klimatu tereny (dżungla, pustynie, ośnieżone górskie szczyty) a także realistyczne efekty pogodowe. Oczywiście, ten olbrzymi obszar możemy przemierzać w dowolny, wybrany przez siebie sposób. Rico potrafi bowiem biegać, pływać, prowadzić pojazdy naziemne, powietrzne i morskie, a także skakać ze spadochronu. Pełna dowolność czeka na nas również w kwestii wykonywania poszczególnych zadań. Podobnie jak pierwowzór, również Just Cause 2 nie stara się ciągnąć nas za rękę, pozwalając delektować się programem według własnego uznania.

W grze Just Cause 2 pojawiły się zupełnie nowe wehikuły, a także cała masa środków zagłady, za pomocą których Rico wymierza złoczyńcom sprawiedliwość. Autorzy poprawili model jazdy samochodami, dzięki czemu użytkownicy programu mogą wykonywać efektowne ewolucje.
